Seed to Seed: A Seed Library for the SLV

Borrow seeds, grow 'em, then harvest and return some seeds for future gardeners!

How It Works

Yes, it really is that easy.

The Nielsen Library's Seed to Seed Library provides the Adams State University campus and greater San Luis Valley community with FREE, organic, non-GMO flower and vegetable seeds, as well as information, resources, and workshops to help gardeners of all skill levels learn to grow healthy food.

Come visit the seed library at the Nielsen Library's first floor circulation desk and check out our wide variety of seeds, then check them out with your library card, just as you would a book. You don't have to be faculty, staff, or a student of Adams State University in order to use the library. Any member of the community has borrowing privileges - just visit the first floor circulation desk with personal identification and we'll issue you a library card.

Then take your seeds home and grow them.

To improve your gardening skills, we also encourage you to attend one of the many workshops and events being led by our program co-sponsors and community partners.

While not required (no fines, we promise!), we encourage all to collect some seed from their harvest and return it to the library for future gardeners to enjoy. Over time, the entire community will be helping to develop locally adapted seed for our challenging San Luis Valley growing climate.
