Community Partners

  • Sangre de Cristo National Heritage Area (SdCNHA) - The SdCNHA is a federally designated national heritage area that includes more than 3,000 suqare miles of south-central Colorado. The mission of the SdCNHA is to promote, preserve, protect, and interpret the profound historical, religious, environmental, geographic, geologic, cultural, and linguistic resources of the region.
     
  • Lifeways of the San Luis Valley / Hilos Culturales - Hilos Culturales is a group of ASU faculty and staff and community members who have come together to develop a course and lecture series entitled "Lifeways of the San Luis Valley and the American Southwest”. The ongoing series explores the cultural richness of the San Luis Valley within the context of the multitude of Southwestern and Upper Rio Grande traditions.
     
  • Concilio de Artes Adobe de Oro - The Adobe de Oro Concilio de Artes, based in Alamosa, is a nonprofit organization that promotes the traditional arts and humanities of the Indo-Hispanic San Luis Valley community, based in Alamosa.

  • Dr. Nick Saenz / Assistant Professor of History. Ph.D., University of California, San Diego, 2013. Dr. Saenz researches and frequently lectures on early Hispanic history.
  • Dr. Benjamin Waddell / Associate Professor of Sociology. Ph.D., University of New Mexico, 2013; M.A, University of New Mexico, 2009; B.A., University of Colorado, 2005. Dr. Waddell teaches in the areas of racial and ethnic relations, education, social psychology, and social inequality.
