Getting Started with Research

Google

Best for: background research/learning about a topic, site-specific searching (i.e., site:.edu), and finding grey literature.

Google Scholar

Best for: background research and finding a broad selection of academic sources.

Adams State Discovery Search

Best for: finding books, articles, and other sources available through the library and broad and interdisciplinary searches.

Databases

Best for: disciplinary and interdisciplinary research focus more on academic source types, specific source needs such as dissertations, reference entries, films, and news.
