Online resources

Colorado Historic Newspapers: "A service of the Colorado State Library, the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection (CHNC) currently includes more than 909,000 digitized pages, representing more than 200 individual newspaper titles published in Colorado primarily from 1859 to 1923."

Valley Courier Headlines: Search recent (since the late 1990s) Valley Courier Headlines.

In the Library

San Luis Valley Clippings Collection: Located in the Colorado Room on the third floor of the Nielsen Library, this is a collection of local news stories clipped from newspapers and organized into folders by subject. Mostly from the 1950s-1970s. Browse through the subjects here and then request those folders from the reference desk or the circulation desk.

Valley Newspapers on Microfilm: The library has many historical San Luis Valley newspapers on microfilm, some going as far back as 1900. Using microfilm can be time-consuming, but having the date (even a rough date) of an even can make your search much more efficient. If you haven't used microfilm before, ask a librarian to help you get started. Located on the second floor.
