Borrowing Material from Other Libraries: Prospector

Prospector

What is Prospector?

Prospector is a state-wide library service (Colorado plus the University of Wyoming) that provides access to material from academic and public libraries. This is a great resource for physical material -- books, DVDs, etc. -- for ON-CAMPUS patrons.

*Distance students, please contact ILL@adams.edu or Amanda Langdon for more information and better alternatives.

Best Search Option:

From the library's homepage, select the "Books & eBooks" link, and perform your search. This will make sure Nielsen Library doesn't have the material before you request it. At the bottom of the results page should be information about Prospector's holdings. Follow the instructions below to request material.

Alternative Search Option:

From the library's homepage, select the "Books & eBooks" link; click the "Prospector" link, and search Prospector directly. This works best when the Nielsen Library search doesn't return the results you're looking for.

To Request Material:

  1. Look for the "Request It" button featuring a ribbon next to the correct citation information. *Make sure you check the format: Books can generally be loaned; e-book licenses, however, may prohibit lending.
  2. A popup window should appear, asking for your affiliation; Adams State is at the top.
  3. Submit the information.
  4. You'll be asked to input your name (natural order: First then Last), and your ASU 900 number. *Please note, you need to include the letters ASU (not case sensitive) and the full 900 number. (e.g. "asu900123456")
  5. Submit, and your request will be processed.
  6. You will receive an email when the book has arrived and has been processed for you.
  7. Please pick up your material; librarians on both sides worked to provide you with the material. Repeatedly requesting and failing to utilize material may result in a suspension of privileges.

Turnaround Times:

The approximate turnaround time for the courier to deliver material from the home library to Nielsen Library is between 2 and 5 business days.
